New Blair Witch Gameplay Shows Good Dog And Good Scares

During Microsoft's E3 2019 press conference, developer Bloober Team announced Blair Witch, a first-person survival horror video game based on the 20-year-old movie franchise headed to PC and Xbox One. Details have been kept close to the chest since then, but we've now gotten a quick look at some gameplay ahead of the game's August 30 release.

The gameplay footage features the protagonist Ellis talking to someone named Jess about the "missing person case" he's investigating. You can walk around the environments, look at stuff, use cameras and flashlights to illuminate your path, and more--all with pretty unnerving apparitions terrorizing your psyche. It all looks in line with the developer's previous titles like Layers of Fear and Observer. Check out the gameplay video below. And yes, you can pet Bullet the bestest dog.

Though very little is known about the upcoming game, we do know it's set in 1996, three years before directors Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sánchez's The Blair Witch Project hit theatres. According to the game's Steam page, you will "navigate your way through a cursed forest that warps and distorts both time and space," with Bullet watching closely as Ellis slips ever further into madness.

Pre-orders are available now. If you're a subscriber to either Xbox Game Pass or Game Pass Ultimate, you'll have immediate access to Blair Witch once it launches this August.

This includes a silhouette of Omega's former tag team partner, Kota Ibushi. You can check out the video for yourself below. The sound effects and dialogue from the end of that section are taken directly from Undertale. After the video package ended, Omega entered wearing a Sans mask, while Megalovania--the song from the game--played in the arena.
