Apple's 2018 iPhone Event Date Set For September

As August's heat beings to chill, Apple is intent on keeping the rest of summer ablaze with its next big iPhone event set for September 12. And according to CNET, there are reports of Apple introducing three new iPhones, a fourth-generation Apple Watch, and a series of iPad Pros.

Two of the three new iPhones rumored to debut at Apple's September 12 event are just refreshes of the iPhone X: One that's the same size as the current iPhone X (5.8-inches), and a larger iPhone X that'll boast a 6.5-inch display. Apparently, these two models are called the iPhone XS. The final iPhone is something in between the two--maybe called the iPhone X Lite--and is rumored to feature a 6.1-inch LCD display instead of the OLED display found in the other two models.

All three devices are also rumored to contain many of the same features seen in the current iPhone X, such as FaceID, 3D Touch--though there are reports stating Apple is phasing this feature out of its upcoming iPhone lineup--and the much-loathed notch, which houses the device's front-facing camera and speaker. Additionally, all three phones are rumored to come in a variety of colors, with the iPhone X and the iPhone X Plus coming in black, white, and gold, and the iPhone X Lite rumored to come in four new colors (though colors weren't identified).

The Cupertino-based company will allegedly unveil a new Apple Watch at its September 12 event as well. According to CNET, the Apple Watch Series 4--or whatever Apple plans on calling this new smartwatch--will likely cost the same as the Series 3 Apple Watch, which starts at $329 and travels up to $799 depending on model and features. It seems this fourth-generation Apple Watch could also sport a new face that's 15 percent larger than company's current smartwatch displays, which is an estimated 44mm (from 38mm) or 48mm (from 42mm).

Alongside new iPhones and Apple Watches, Apple is rumored to announce two new iPad Pro models. As stated by CNET, Apple is reportedly preparing one iPad Pro that's approximately 11-inch and another 12.9-inch model. Furthermore, similar to 2017's iPhone X, it seems Apple may get rid of the Home Button on these new iPad Pros, which would allow the company to create a slimmer, near-bezel-less display with rounded corners. And similar to 2017's iPhone lineup, Apple may force the world into a truly wireless future, as it seems the company may get rid of the headphone jack on these iPad Pros.

Everything we know about these upcoming devices, however, are mere rumors. With September right around the corner, we won't have to wait long to see what Apple has up its sleeve.

Apple's big iPhone reveal event will be held in the new Steve Jobs Theatre at the company's headquarters in Cupertino. If Apple's track record continues as it has for the last six years, you can purchase these new devices roughly 10 days after the September 12 announcement.
