Pokemon Home Pricing And Features Detailed

The cloud-based Pokemon Home is coming in February, and Nintendo has opened a site that shares more on pricing and other assorted details. Storing your pocket monsters from games like Pokemon Sword and Shield in the cloud won't exactly come cheap, though, as a yearly premium subscription costs almost as much as a Nintendo Switch Online subscription.

The Pokemon Home app on mobile devices provides a large repository of info, including the Pokemon that can Mega Evolve or Gigantamax, abilities, and the moves they can learn. You can also receive Mystery Gifts straight through the mobile app. A "Judge" function lets you get automated feedback on the strength of your Pokemon. You'll be able to see personalized info in an area called Your Room, and decorate your profile with stickers. Finally, you can earn Home Points by depositing Pokemon, which can then be traded for Battle Points (BP) to be used in the core Pokemon games. Various trade types are supported including the Wonder Box, GTS, and Room trades.

The basic (free) plan gives you access to most features in some limited capacity, albeit with a fairly low storage limit. Premium users get much higher storage and trading limits, and also get exclusive access to moving Pokemon from the 3DS Pokemon Bank, and the judge function.

One month of Pokemon Home Premium costs $3, three months is $5, and 12 months is $16.

Currently, Pokemon Home is planned to work with Pokemon Sword and Shield and Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee, at launch. Pokemon Go functionality is planned for the future, but no date has been announced. Home can also connect with Pokemon Bank to transfer your monsters from 3DS. Pokemon Bank and Transporter will be available for free for a month after Home launches, so you can move them over easily.

The launch of Pokemon Home was one of the major announcements in a Pokemon-focused Nintendo Direct at the beginning of the year--along with DLC for Sword and Shield and the announcement of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX, a remake of the classic dungeon-crawler.
